　　Students are facing more pressure than before. They are expected to devote more time to study and to show better professional competence after they graduate.Some cannot help wondering whether they should spend less time on otheractivities.

　　Good academic performance, one of the criteria for measuring one' s competence in career, is the result of years of unremitting effort. Given the fierce competitions that students will face as job seekers and the importance of academic knowledge,students ought to give priority to study. Only when managers are good at economics can they interpret market with insight. Only after years of professional learning can a music art student playa piece of music with a depth that cannot be expected from an amateur.

　　However, this does not necessarily mean that students ought to be fully immersed into study. They also should be encouraged to travel or take part time jobs. The society they will face might befar more complex than they might have imagined.The experiences as a part time worker Or traveler help them to acquire the basic skills needed for further achievements. During their interactions with the people they meet when they are working or travelling, they can gradually learn to be proper in behavior and considerate in relations with others. They can also learn how to overcome the setbacks they face. All these are important qualities that they are less likely to acquire when they are in universities.

　　In conclusion, to say academic subjects are important does not mean that they should fully devote themselves to study. They also need more interactions with the world outside so as to make themselves better prepared for their future.
