You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.

Write about the following topic:

Some people think products should be made to last as long as possible, while others think making products cheap is more important.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Write at least 250 words.

【题目解析】

题目大意：有的人认为产品应该越耐用越好，而另一些人认为产品应该以便宜为主。

该题属于“讨论文”，故需要先讨论题目中两个观点的合理性，然后再给出自己的个人观点。

【写作思路】

Para 1 = 题目改写 + 文章概括 + 个人观点

Para 2 = 讨论题目中第一个观点的合理性

理由1：帮助人们节约钱

理由2：保护环境

Para 3 = 讨论题目在第二个观点的合理性

理由1：贫困家庭可以负担

理由2：人们可以很容易跟随潮流

Para 4 = 总结全文 + 个人观点

产品的质量和价格同等重要

【参考范文】

There are those who opine that the durability of goods is of considerable significance, while the opposing stance is that emphasis should be placed on low prices. This essay will initially analyse the two ideas, followed by a presentation of my perspective, which is that the quality and affordability of products are equally important.

It is justified for some to favour products being manufactured as long-lasting. This is primarily because people can save a large amount of money. If consumers can use the products they have purchased for many years, it is unnecessary for them to spend money on the same product repeatedly. Instead, they can save the money or buy something else they need. In addition, the environment can be conserved. The shorter the life span of products, the more waste is generated, and then the disposal of these may contaminate the air and pollute waterways. However, when goods are made to be durable, this will be less likely to occur.

However, it is also true that the benefits of inexpensive goods are more obvious. To begin with, people from deprived families can afford what they intend to purchase more easily. For example, if their mattress is unusable and a new one is costly, they may not sleep soundly or have to buy a used one. In contrast, cheap but new products allow them to enjoy their life. Moreover, individuals are able to follow the latest trend. Once the price of commodities is low, the possibility increases that consumers become willing to be stylish, such as wearing the most fashionable clothes and shoes.

In conclusion, I believe that both sides of the argument are reasonable. On balance, my firm opinion is that manufacturing both long-lasting and cheap products is vital. This can not only help people save money and have a better life but also protect the environment. Therefore, it is suggested that manufacturers produce high-quality and cheap goods.
