　　1. 本段文章的主题是地理讲座的介绍性部分。开始介绍是基本知识(we’ll begin with some basics)。begin with... 意为“以...开始”,同时 start with也表示同样的意思。basic 在此为名词,相当于 rationale,意为“基础知识,基本原理”,basic 还可作形容词,意为“基础的, 初步的”。
