Young people do not spend their holiday and weekend doing outdoor activities like hiking and climbing in natural environment. Why? How to encourage them to go out?

Nowadays, youngsters are reluctant to allocate their spare time to exercising in open fields. Behind such reluctance are two predominant motivators, and hopefully some feasible approaches can be adopted.

Ø 开门见山去点题：年轻人不情愿休闲时间出门运动。同时给出自己观点：这种不情愿的背后有两点主要原因，也要可行的应对措施。点到为止，不必在伊始详细地抛出观点。

Ø open fields 旷野

To commence, this phenomenon can be ascribed to the unprecedented technology progresses. Unlike people in the past, who had few options to kill time and thus opted for outdoor activities as their mainstream of pastimes, the young at present, exposed to mountains of digital recreations, are more inclined to get immersed in or even addicted to video games or shows on television which offer them much immediate excitement. Not surprisingly, young people may find it dull to exercise outside. Besides, it is due to the rat race in either study or work that young people should work ceaselessly to accomplish their assignments, even burning the midnight oil. Naturally, exhausted, they desire a sound rest in leisure time instead of doing outdoor activities which further drain their physical strength.

The first imperative is that some public-service advertisements can be made to publicize not only the detriments brought by the addiction to digital devices but also the essence of taking a stroll in a natural environment. Fostering the awareness of leading a healthier life, young people may to large extent alter their current lifestyle. Additionally, educational institutions and businesses can on a regular basis arrange several outdoor activities such as excursions and mountain-climbing on weekends, during which students and young working professionals will be called on to smell the roses.
