雅思地道口语表达（六）

雅思口语对中国考生来说是个考试难点，运用一些地道的口语表达可以大大的帮助我们提高分数，那么今天新东方在线雅思就为大家带来系列雅思地道口语表达，来本文看看吧。

1.A cat nap

就是“打个吨儿”的意思啦。

I was up late last night so l had a cat nap at my desk today.

2. ldiot-box

就是电视机噢，有轻蔑的意味。人们觉得电视看得太多大脑会变迟钝，不善思考，成为“idiot” .

Hey, you kids!Turn off the id iot-box and go do your homework.

3. close to home

意思是:触到痛处;说得太露骨，说得太直接。通常运用在某人说话不给别人留情面，痛批某人或者某事这样的语境当中。

Everyone felt that the speaker's remarks hit close to home.

4.Be like water and oil

这里用水和油无法互溶的现象来比喻人之间因某些本质的巨大差别而无法相处。

中文的词语中与之最为匹配的，应该是成语“水火不容”了，但由于该成语经常用来形容仇恨，甚至与“不共戴天”感情基调类似，而“be like waterand oil”更强调的是两者之间存在本质区别,并非强调仇恨，因此将其译为“合不来”更为妥当。

5. Lick the habit

这里用了习惯用语lick the habit表示克服恶习。lick这个词在这儿的意思不是“舔”，而是“克服”，“征服”或者“打败”。

Honey, l knowl've tried to stop smoking before and Ididn't havethe willpower to stop for more than a month ortwo.But this timel'm going to lick the habit even if it kills me!

6. Life of the party

意思就是在聚会中活跃气氛的中心人物，指代男女都可以哦。举个例子:People who give parties always invite Jenny becausethey know she'll be the life of the party. She knows everybody intown, helps guests get to know each other, makes sure they getplenty to eat and makes everybody feel very comfortable.7.Cast in ston

cast in stone: something is fixed , decided or definite.

形容某件事像刻在石头里面那样，板上钉钉，不可改变。这里的cast还可以改为set, carved or etched.

8.Talk a blue streak

意思是说话又快又多叫人招架不住。举个例子:Susan is lovely, but she has one problem -she talks ablue streak. At dinner she chattered away so fast l couldn't get in aword edgewise. l doubt I'll everask her out again.

9. Talk my ear off

没完没了地长谈,喋喋不休说个没完。身边是不是常有这样的人呀?

On the train to NewYork l sat next to a man who talked my ear off about himself. He didn't even stop to catch his breath. It was thelongest three hours l've spentin my life,

10. clear the air

这个用语是澄清事实,消除误会的意思。这里的a ir指不愉快的气氛。可以来看—个例句项:All right, let's discuss this problem frankly. It will be better if we clearthe a ir.

11. Shake a leg

意思是赶快行动，用来催促旁人快一点行动起来。它是非正式的语言，常用在家人和老朋友之间。

Honey, we'd better shake a leg.The wedding is at eleven and it takes an hour to drive there. It's already 10:15.
