Write about the following topic:

The level of noise around us is constantly increasing, and is affecting the quality of our lives.

What causes the noise?

What should be done about it?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Write at least 250 words.

题目大意：我们身边的噪音水平在持续增加，并且正在影响我们的生活。是什么导致了噪音？此问题可以如何改善？

备注：该题目能给出的论点较多，需要考生对论点加以归纳和整理，避免太过于罗列要点。或者挑选最有代表性的，如交通噪音、生活噪音等。

【写作思路】

开头段：呼应题目中的现象，并表明原因有多方面，以及可以有一些建议。

主体第一段：分析主要的原因，如各类交通导致、城市拥挤导致的生活噪音；

主体第二段：列出可能的方案，如更好的城市规划来分割必要的噪音源、在特定时段或区域设置噪音相关的限制；

结尾段：重新表明噪音来源复杂，需要一系列的方案和多方的努力来改善。

【参考范文】

Most of us are accustomed to the sounds we hear every day. However, when sound level crosses a certain threshold, it transcends the boundaries of mere noise and qualifies as noise pollution. Multiple causes can give rise to noise pollution; therefore, changes need to be made on both the government’s level and personal level.

In most cases, unwanted sounds can be created due to man-made activities that can be anything from construction work and traffic to household chores and social life activities. Particularly, vehicles on roads, airplanes flying over houses, and underground trains produce heavy noise, all of which people would find it difficult to get accustomed to. In developing parts of the world where residential properties and industrial buildings are in proximity, the noise from the nearby industrial property might hinder the basic well-being of the individuals living in residential properties.

Given the complexity behind the issue, a range of methods would have to be considered. Governments can take measures, protecting certain areas, such as parts of the countryside, and areas of natural interest, to ensure noise management and reduce noise pollution. In addition, authorities need to establish regulations that include noise limits. For instance, in many cities, ‘no-noise’ zones have been created, where honking and industrial noise is not tolerated.

On a personal level, individuals can help by checking their daily activities. A practical way is to reduce noise in homes by lowering the volume of household appliances, like radio, music system and television. It would also be necessary to do housework that involves noisy machines at the recommended time. In terms of commute, if more people are willing to try alternative means of transport such as bicycles or electric vehicles instead of taking the car, the noise level on roads would be reduced.

To conclude, it has become difficult to escape the noise from both human activities and the environment. Thus, in order to bring some fundamental changes to the situation, both governments and individuals would have to make some moves.
